Welcome!

Stanford in the Vale Pre-school welcomes children of pre-school age (2-5 years) from Stanford and the surrounding area.

The Pre-school has been established since March 1970 where originally it operated from the Large Village Hall.  In the spring of 1999, we moved to the newly built Small Village Hall and in March 2011 we moved into our brand new purpose-built pre-school building which is where we continue to operate today.

The Pre-school offers our children a broad range of interesting and educational activities within the setting, in addition to events outside the setting.  These can include walks around the village, visits to the nearby playground and outings to local amenities.  The children may also enjoy visits from the local policeman, hygienist and also any parents who wish to come in and talk about their occupation.  Our staff members are experienced, caring and highly dedicated individuals whose understanding of the children and the community to which they belong is unquestionable.  They strive to ensure that each child enjoys being a part of the Stanford Pre-school ‘family’.  Additionally, the professionalism of the staff enables parents to feel confident about their ability to provide the best possible care and education for the children entrusted into their charge.

As a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance (PSLA), Stanford Pre-school aims to provide the highest quality education and care for all our children.  We aim to offer a welcome to each individual child and family and to provide a warm and caring environment within which all children can learn and develop as they play.

We believe children and parents are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt careful attention to their needs and wishes. Our intention is to work in partnership with parents and the community generally and we welcome suggestions on how to improve Stanford Pre-school at any time.  A Comments/Suggestions Book & box is readily available at the setting for parents/carers to provide feedback to the staff and committee on the standard of care provided for their children.

*** STANFORD IN THE VALE PRE-SCHOOL ACHIEVES "OUTSTANDING" STATUS BY OFSTED - MAY 2011 ***

We asked Parents - If you had to summarise you child’s time with us at Stanford Pre-school, what would you say?

‘My child loves it!’

‘FANTASTIC. I love it and my daughter loves it even more. We will be very sad to say goodbye.’

‘He has all his needs met, and he thoroughly enjoys his time.’

‘She is always happy to go to pre-school & never not wants to go.’

‘Happy, fun and a great sociable experience.’

‘Very happy with the whole process.’

‘He has been very happy and always enjoys coming to Pre School. He has made some very good friends who hopefully he will attend school with.’

‘X started very shy and very nervous and he only had one friend. He is now much more confident and far less shy. He has a group of friends who he clearly loves spending time with.’

‘She was very lucky to have started pre-school in the new building which is great. It did take her a while to settle in but the Staff were very helpful and now she seems very happy, making some lovely friends and enjoying all the different activities. Being one of the younger children it does seem all too soon to be starting School in September but I feel she will be ready by then.’

‘He really loves it, thank you.’

‘Happy – think she will have fond memories. Made really good friends. Valuable connection with Primary school. Amazing purpose built facility, wonderful helpful staff that have a wealth of experience.’

‘Our daughter really enjoyed time in a pre-school, (Looks forward to going even at the weekends).’

‘My child has developed trust and certainty within the setting which has helped to develop his personal skills. This has encouraged the growth of confidence in spending time away from the home and support early learning. I feel this has been a positive first step in his early education before the transition to foundation stage in September.’

‘Very enjoyable.’

‘He is keen to go, happy to be left and seems to really enjoy his time at Pre School. He would like to stay and have lunch with his friends! It’s teaching him key social skills and about how he should behave and conduct himself as part of a group in the Pre School environment.’
